WHO WE ARE/WHAT WE DO

We are a community youth theatre dedicated to providing a full theatrical experience to youth in the KV area and neighbouring communities.  We learn theatre by putting on plays!  

We DON’T do musicals. 

We focus on Middle School aged performers, but do accept younger and older performers.  

We involve participants in all aspects of the production. (Set and prop construction, costumes, makeup, set changes).   It is expected that all participants will be ready and willing to do anything that might be required to ensure a successful show.  

All interested youth are accepted.  We start kids where they are, giving them roles and responsibilities appropriate to their skill and experience level, and gradually ‘stretch’ and develop them by giving them new challenges. 

We were formed in 2011, and Spring 2026 is our 24th production.

REGULAR REHEARSALS:

Mondays and Weds 6:45 - 8:30 at Chris Saunders Elementary.   If there is no school, there is no rehearsal.  (We are not affiliated with any school.  We book schools through ASD-S Community Use of Schools program.)

Not all performers are needed for all rehearsals.  There is usually a post each weekend saying who is needed each rehearsal the coming week.

If a performer has a conflict for one of the rehearsal nights, or if they need to regularly arrive late  or leave early — We can work around that if we know upfront before casting.

FAMILY PARTICIPATION:

We are a non-profit volunteer-powered organization.  Family participation is needed and important.  

Parents take turns supervising at rehearsals, and lots of family support is needed  during dress rehearsals and performances. 

FEES

- Participation fee is $125 for the first family member, $75 for each additional family member, per season or production. (A ‘production’’ is from the start of rehearsals to the end of performances.  Most school years have 2 seasons/productions.)  This covers everything the performer needs (costumes, scripts, etc), but doesn’t include tickets to the show.

DRESS REHEARSALS & PERFORMANCES

    - Dress rehearsals and performances are MANDATORY.  We will announce these dates as soon as we are able to confirm them, and PLEASE prioritize us for these.  If you have a conflict, speak to the director as soon as possible.  We have 2 Dress rehearsals, usually 2 Sundays in a row. Participants need to be available the full day.  (9 - 5).

         We have 3 live performances, which could be any 2 of Thursday evening, Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Saturday evening, Sunday afternoon.  Participants are needed starting 2 hours prior to curtain.  

We are a non-profit, volunteer-powered community theatre dedicated to providing a full theatrical experience to youth, with a focus on grades 5 - 9.  We welcome youth from the KV area and surrounding communities.  Most years we have a show in the April/May and another in Dec.  

NHCT was founded in February 2011.  Spring 2026 is our 24th production.
